LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) - Renderings show the vision for the Las Vegas Valley’s Historic Commercial Center as Clark County continues revitalization of the area.

Wednesday, the Clark County Redevelopment Agency will hear the presentation from design firm Gensler. Clark County Commission Chair Tick Segerblom explains the mission of the research.

“Look around the world, look around Las Vegas, look around the United States, see what you think: is this place worth revitalizing? If so, how would you revitalize it? And this is their initial impression,” Segerblom said. “They said ‘let’s keep it, there’s a lot of history here.’ It’s so close to the Strip. It’s so close to the new bus line coming in. It’s really a treasure. We just need to enhance it and keep building it,” he said.

Clark County purchased $10 million worth of buildings in the center and is set to spend $20 million more on upgrades for planned purposes, Segerblom said.

Renderings show options for outdoor activations with shade, public gathering spaces for events and concerts, apartments or condos and various other amenities for locals and visitors.

“The Center is uniquely positioned to also be the bridge between a wide variety of redeveloping neighborhoods as Vegas sees rapid growth over recent years, with the potential to once again be a gathering place for the diverse Las Vegas community,” the report states, highlighting opportunities for “artrepreneurs” and other diverse businesses in the area.

FOX5 has told you how, in the search for affordable spaces, art galleries have started to relocate from the Arts District to Commercial Center. In 2023, Clark County looked towards cities like Nashville for inspiration for zoning changes, all to create walkable areas for people to “bar hop.”

“Turning into an art-themed ‘Town Square: it’s an exciting time to be down here in the Historic Commercial Center, said Derek Stonebarger, the owner of Rebar in the Arts District. He is making progress to open his concept called “Arty’s” at Commercial Center with a steakhouse and art gallery.

“This is the place to be. You can’t see it yet,” he said. There’s a lot of good coming out of this project and this area," Stonebarger said.
